    Mt. Pongkay also known as the Prayer Mountain “A Place for Meditation, Prayer and Worship” of Cabadbaran City. The Mt. Pongkay is located in Barangay Kauswagan and it’s a 15 minutes’ tricycle ride from the bus terminal. The Mountain is widely knowns by the local people of Cabadbaran so it is easily to locate. Mt. Pongkay is approximately 700+ steps above that will take you 30 minutes to 1 hour to climb. the best moment and time to go up during the morning is at exactly 5am where the sun has not yet risen and where you could still see the amazing fog that covering the dense of woods and witness the sunrise. Some of the tourists choose to go there at 4pm to witness the beautiful sunset of Cabadbaran City.

     Mt. Pongkay is a fresh air and no pollution, no noise but sweet chirps of birds and small wild animals, no chaos but tranquility and things could be thought over very well.

  • HOW TO GET THERE?

    Cabadbaran City is very accessible by any means of transport. From the Butuan-Surigao route, the city can be accessible via buses, vans, jeeps or multi-cabs. Likewise, it can be reached by air via Butuan City for those who come directly from Manila or Cebu. On the other hand, those coming from the Visayas can take the Nasipit route or the Verano International Port and Lipata Port found in Surigao City.

    Mt. Pongkay is a 15 minutes’ tricycle ride from the bus terminal. If you’re staying in a hotel or inns or in your relatives, you can also walk while going to the mountain to get exercise while walking. The best part of walking is around 4am or 5am to be able to climb the mountain early and see the sunrise.

If you want to stay in a very affordable and nearest inn E&G Travellers Inn is the best place for you. Price range 300.00 per 3 hours of stay.

    Gazebo Pools and Restaurant located in Quarry Barangay 9, Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte. Gazebo Pools and Restaurant has a restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, garden, and free WiFi. This 3-star resort offers room service and a concierge service. Private parking can be arranged at an extra change. All guest’s rooms in the resort are fitted with a flat-screen TV and all rooms included air conditioning and a private bathroom. Continental and Asian breakfast options are available every morning at the accommodation. Gazebo Pools and Restaurant rooms can accommodate maximum of 7 people, price range from 1,450.00 only.

Ruth Apartelle Suites and Swimming Pool located in Purok 2 Cabiltes Street, Poblacion 7 Cabadbaran City. The price range for rooms is 700.00-800.00 per night and the apartelle price range is 2,700.00 per night. If you want to stay for 3 hours you need to pay 400.00 only.

    Casa Alburo Hotel and Restaurant is located in L. Dagani Corner Mortola Street, Cabadbaran City. The old structure of Casa Alburo was built in 1922. It started as a boarding house with five rooms, with the completion of the requirements of provincial tourism Casa Alburo became a hotel and restaurant having 16 rooms, two function hall and a restaurant. The hotel consists of economy, standard, de-luxe and dormitory type of accommodations. The hotel price range from ₱700.00-3,000.00 only. For the breakfast only De Luxe and Standard room are for free.

    Loreta Resort is located in Highway Hinagdanan, Comagascas, Cabadbaran City. Featuring room service, this property also provides guests with a restaurant.     Mt. Pongkay is open to all tourists, you can come whenever you want. If you want to witness the amazing fog of the places and beautiful sunrise it is recommended to go up at exactly 4am or 5am. The mountain is also beautiful especially in the afternoon because you can watch the sunset above the Mt. Pongkay. During the rainy and storm days, the pathways could be dangerous for you to go up.

 Mt. Pongkay also known as the “Prayer Mountain” of Cabadbaran City. The mountain is famous for its 700 plus steps. Most of the tourist’s will come especially during Holy Week to repent their sins and recall the events leading Jesus’ death by crucifixion. The Mt. Pongkay is also a good place to rest and relax spiritually.

 When you finally reached the top of the mountain you could see the large Cross made up of bamboo that stood sturdy at the peak of the mountain. There was also small shade built made up from “nipa” where you could sit over, chatter and see the perfect view of another beautiful mountain afar.

   When you were at the top of Mt. Pongkay you can also see the whole City of Cabadbaran, seaside of RTR can be seen from above too, beautiful plants and trees of mountain and the beautiful beaches of Caasinan and Sabang Dike.

  • WHAT ARE THE PRICES/HOW MUCH MONEY DO I NEED?

  Going up to the Mt. Pongkay is very affordable to all the tourists. The only thing you need to pay is the entrance fee that costs only is ₱20.00 per person as funding for its maintenance. Along the way there are also a small sari-sari store to buy candles, biscuits, candy, water and coffee to bring.

   It’s essential to wear proper clothes for hiking that allows you to move and maneuver comfortably. Choose well-fitting shoes that provide ankle support, stability, and grip.

  If you’re planning to go up to the mountain, then your age is 35 above it is highly recommended to bring White Flower or Efficascent Oil, for hydration bring a lots of water, towel for the sweats and extra t-shirts.
